Lynne Maciver is a mixed media artist living and working in the Outer Hebrides

Mini Collage 2025

An exercise in working with constraints, these daily collages were completed over 30 days. The purpose was to inspire consideration of composition and clarity of image at a small scale

Isle of Lewis Buildings and Structures

Inspired by the eclectic architecture and built environment of the Outer Hebrides. The influences of different cultures dating back thousands of years have left their mark throughout the Isle of Lewis.

Shielings

Inspired by the traditional huts and shelters used by people tending livestock or cutting peats during the Summer months across the Outer Hebrides.

Ollochs* (Stones)

*There is some debate about the spelling of the word olloch, a term used to described the beautifully smooth, rounded stones found commonly on the beaches across the islands. An olloch is bigger than a pebble, it has substance and is notable for the time it has spent being smoothed by the tides.

These mixed media works capture the gentle shapes and textures of the layered stones in their natural environment.
